The cable car system is a classic single-rope automatic cable car with closed vehicles, with a capacity of 8 people with skis inside to minimize embarkation and disembarkation problems and at the same time guarantee a high level of transport comfort.
The cable car has a transport potential of 2480 people/h at a maximum speed of 6 m/sec and with 40 vehicles in line.
The line was created with the positioning of 11 traditional type supports, each consisting of a central steel shaft.
The valley station integrates a multi-storey car park spread over 4 levels, capable of accommodating 313 cars, a private car park with a capacity of 34 cars, the offices of the Operator Company, the ticket office and services.
On the lower level, a large pedestrian tunnel allows access to the base of the stairs and elevators.
Three large-capacity lifts connect all levels to the boarding floor of the cable car.
The entire work was conceived with the aim of harmonizing the intervention with the surrounding urban and natural environment.
The multi-storey car park including the access and exit paths and the pedestrian path are “virtually” underground.
A pedestrian walkway that crosses the access road to the town of Dolonne connects the runway with the boarding floor of the cable car.
The mountain station has a fixed suspended engine and is located on the eastern side near the arrival area of the “Gigante” cable car in Courmayeur.
In addition to the vehicle warehouse, it houses the services and rooms dedicated to the electrical and mechanical maintenance technicians of the Operator Company.
This part of the work is also made to a large extent “underground” to minimize its impact on the environment.
